Chemtura Corp. has formed a joint venture with Japan-based Hakuto Co., Ltd. to work in the areas of polymerization inhibitors for styrene monomer refining processes. These inhibitors, Hakutol PC series, developed by Hakuto, have demonstrated superior performance with dinitro-type polymerization inhibitors such as DNBP, according to the company.
Chemtura, a specialty chemical producer with a global presence and expertise in DNBP, and Hakuto will jointly develop the market. Hakuto has agreed to license the patented technologies to Chemtura on a global basis, except in Japan, where both companies will cooperate.
